About Cindy: 

Cindy Similien is an award-winning Haitian-American author, cultural ambassador, and community advocate. She lives by the motto: “Live to love; work to improve the lives of others; and, create a legacy.” A recent recipient of the Moonbeam Children’s Book Award, Cindy is the author of more than 10 children’s books. As a global citizen, she has directly impacted the lives of children in the USA, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Tanzania, and Cape Verde through her literacy awareness project called Just A Kid With A Dream Foundation, Inc. A graduate of Barnard College of Columbia University, she has been featured in multiple media outlets, including the New York Times, Amsterdam News, The Haitian Times and NBCNews.
