A World Class Mixology Experience-
No Designated Driver Was Needed!
As the first part of our “Don’t Miss Thursdays!” series, we held a really fun and unique event on Thursday, August 13 - Esteban Ordonez, a world renowned mixologist, taught a virtual class for HUFH supporters on how to make rum cocktails!
Here’s a short bio:
Esteban Ordonez is the principal mixologist and managing partner of International Cocktail Group, and is a star in the national and international mixology scene. His libations have been featured in the New York Times, Cosmopolitan Magazine, and numerous other publications. Esteban opened the now-famous Amaru Pisco Bar in Queens, as well as the Theater Bar in TriBeCa. His cocktails are poured at some of the hottest restaurants and bars around the country.
Attendees at this event received a list of necessary ingredients, as well as a swag bag with the rum flight to make the evening's concoctions a success.

Cooking Haitian With A Pro: Held on Thursday, Sept. 24
A Cooking Class for the Curious!
At our second mini-event, Michelle Timothee, a Haitian native and chef/owner of La Talaye, a catering company based in Haverstraw, NY, that serves International cuisine with a Caribbean twist, taught a virtual cooking class featuring a unique Haitian recipe, made simple for the home chef.
Here’s Michelle’s short bio:
A seasoned culinary professional, Michelle opened her first restaurant at the tender age of 20 in her native Haiti, and has since studied culinary arts at Rockland Community College and also honed her skills at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park. Michelle’s cooking highlights organic, natural local ingredients and unique spices. La Talaye was the winner of the Ramsey Farmers Market 2017 Chef competition.
Attendees at this event received a list of necessary ingredients, as well as a swag bag with spices and other supplies needed to make the evening's concoctions a success.

Our third event, the HUFH 1st annual Move-a-Thon, “Take the Citadel Challenge,” is up and running and open to walkers, runners, bikers and swimmers — and can be joined at any time from now through October 1 (winner to be announced at the virtual gala on October 15).
Have your family or friends donate for every mile your team walks, bikes, or swims between July 30th-October 1st.
This move-a-thon is a competition! Go it alone or create a team and sign up to participate. Both the team that raises the most money and the team that completes the most miles will win a prize -- and will be given a shout out at our virtual gala.

- a custom celebratory drink by famed mixologist Esteban Ordonez (who got rave reviews at our rum event)
- a bar snack specially crafted by award winning chef Michelle Timothee (who is teaching us to cook Haitian)
- opportunities to see our staff on the ground
- not to mention some star-studded messages of support!
